Accessing Your Maynooth University Student Email: A Guide

Student email address format

The email address format for all students is "@mumail.ie", meaning your email address will be "firstname.lastname.year@mumail.ie". For example, if your name is Jane Smith, and you are in your first year, your email will be "jane.smith.1@mumail.ie".

You can access your Maynooth University student email by going to https://portal.office.com and logging in with your full email address and password.

You can also access your email on your mobile device by downloading the Microsoft Outlook app, available for Android and iOS devices. Simply search for "Microsoft Outlook" in your app store.

Accessing student email

Mobile access

Accessing your contacts is straightforward, and you can sync them across multiple devices. This ensures you always have the contact details of your classmates, lecturers, and university staff at your fingertips.

Email Address

Your student email address will be in the format of "firstname.lastname.year @mumail.ie". All correspondence, including mailing lists, will be delivered directly to your Office 365 inbox.

Accessibility

You can access your Office 365 account from anywhere in the world, simply by visiting https://portal.office.com and logging in with your email address and password. This accessibility extends to mobile devices, where you can use the Microsoft Outlook app to access your email and calendar on the go.

Additionally, Office 365 provides you with access to OneDrive and Microsoft Office software, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and OneNote. These tools enable you to create, edit, and collaborate on documents in real time with your peers. You also have access to Teams, which is ideal for group projects or study groups.

Resetting your password

To reset your password, you must first register for the Self-Service Password Reset (SSPR). This will allow you to reset your password at any time, day or night. Registering for SSPR only takes a few minutes. Here's how to do it:

• Browse to portal.office.com
• Sign in using your username (email address) and password
• Select your user icon in the upper right corner of the screen
• From the menu that appears, select 'My account'
• Select 'Security info' from the menu on the left
• Choose one of the available options to verify your identity: 'Authenticator app', 'Phone', or 'Alternate phone'. If you choose 'Phone', you will receive a text or call to your mobile phone when you need to authenticate your login. If you choose 'Authenticator app', download the Microsoft Authenticator app on your Android or Apple device and follow the prompts to add your work or school account
• Once you have registered for SSPR, you can reset your password by browsing to the Microsoft Online Password Reset page and entering your email address and the characters provided in the picture. Click 'Next'
• Open the Microsoft Authenticator app on your phone, select your mailbox from the list of accounts, and enter the code that is generated
• Enter a new password when prompted. Make sure to use a secure 16-character password. Click 'Finish'
