Billing and Due Dates

Tuition and fees are due on the first day of class. Students are responsible for paying their balances by the designated due date. Student Accounts delivers eBills through ePay monthly, and notifications are sent to students' MAVzone email addresses. No paper bills are sent. Students can also view their current balance at any time by logging into ePay.

Payment Options

Students can pay their balance in a multitude of ways, including payment in full, semester payment plans through ePay, Financial Aid, third-party benefits, employment benefits, alternative loans, scholarships, or grants. Many students combine different options to cover the entire cost.

Late Fees and Service Charges

After the census, student accounts with remaining balances are subject to late fees and/or service charges. A one-time per semester 25% late fee with a maximum of $100 may be applied. Additionally, a monthly service charge of 1% of the balance due may also be applied.

Student refunds

Colorado Mesa University (CMU) issues refunds to students when their account has an eligible credit balance. This can be due to a few reasons, such as:

• Financial aid payments exceeding their account balance.
• Credits for dropped courses within the appropriate deadlines for a refund.
• Withdrawal from the university.

Students are responsible for paying any outstanding balances owed by the designated due date. If a student decides to drop a class or withdraw from the university, they must do so before the first day of classes to be eligible for a 100% refund of tuition and fees. Refunds are processed each business day, with direct deposits taking approximately 48 hours to reach bank accounts. Paper checks are issued every other Thursday and are mailed to the permanent address on file.

CMU encourages students to sign up for direct deposit to receive their refunds more quickly. To do so, students must provide accurate bank account information through their online ePay account. There is no fee for setting up direct deposit, and students can change their bank account information at any time.

For each term, initial refunds begin to be processed the week before full-term classes begin, with disbursement day being the Friday before the first day of class. After receiving an initial refund, any remaining refunds will not be processed until after the Census date, unless the student notifies CMU in writing that they have completed adding or dropping courses before the Census date.

Payment methods

Students at Colorado Mesa University can use a variety of methods to pay their tuition and fees. The university has an online billing portal, ePay, which is a secure, convenient, and fast way to view and pay bills, receive billing statements, and set up payment plans. ePay is accessible 24/7 through the CMU mobile app or the MAVzone application.

Through ePay, students can make one-time online payments or set up payment plans using a Credit Card, Debit Card, Checking Account, or Electronic Check. Credit/Debit Card payments will incur a 2.95% PayPath Processing Service Fee. Students can also save their Checking Account as a payment method in ePay by going to the CMU Mobile App or MAVzone, clicking on "Payment Profile" on the right-hand menu, selecting "Add New Payment Method", and choosing "Electronic Check".

Colorado Mesa University also offers three convenient ways to make monthly, semimonthly, or weekly automatic payments without interest or late fees. Balances can be paid in installments by signing up through ePay.

For international students, Colorado Mesa University has partnered with Flywire and PayMyTuition to offer efficient and economical payment solutions. These platforms provide access to a secure, online portal where students can select the international payment method that works best for them. Additionally, the university has partnered with TransferMate for international tuition payments, allowing students to pay by local bank transfer and in their local home currency.

Students can also make cash and money order payments in person at the IRIS desk located in Lowell Heiny Hall (LHH) on the First Floor. Student privacy

Colorado Mesa University is committed to protecting the privacy and accuracy of confidential information submitted by its students. The university operates in accordance with the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) to ensure student privacy. FERPA provides students enrolled in a post-secondary educational institution the right to inspect, review, and challenge their educational records.

Under FERPA, Colorado Mesa University has the responsibility of maintaining and protecting the confidentiality of students' official educational records. The university also supervises the access to and/or release of educational records of its students. FERPA covers enrolled and former students, including deceased students. However, students who are not accepted to Colorado Mesa University, or if accepted and do not attend, have no rights under FERPA.

FERPA also allows eligible students to inspect and review their education records, seek amendment of these records, consent to the disclosure of the records, and file a complaint concerning potential violations. Students can also provide electronic permission to allow parents or others to discuss and obtain their financial and educational records if they so choose. They can give permission to CMU by designating parents or others as an Authorized User through ePay, or by submitting an electronic Release of Information form through MAVzone.

Students who designate themselves with Confidential status are only able to conduct business in person on the CMU campus with a valid picture ID or independently through MAVzone. No educational or financial information will be discussed with any persons on the phone regarding a Confidential student.

Colorado Mesa University may release student directory information or student educational records if allowed or required by FERPA. Directory Information includes information that would not generally be considered harmful or an invasion of privacy if released, such as the student's name, address, telephone number, date and place of birth, major field of study, participation in officially recognized activities and sports, weight and height of athletic team members, dates of attendance, degrees and awards received, and the most recent educational institution attended. At any time, a student may request that Directory Information not be released to other parties without written permission by submitting a Confidential Indicator in MAVzone.
