Student Veterans of America (SVA)

One of these organizations is the Student Veterans of America (SVA), a coalition of student veteran groups from college campuses across the United States.
History and Mission
SVA was founded in January 2008 and is a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt organization. It has three primary missions:
- To develop student veterans groups on college and university campuses and coordinate between existing groups by region.
- To connect them with resources.
- To advocate on behalf of student veterans at the state and national level.
SVA has a network of nearly 1,600 on-campus chapters and works to ensure that student veterans and military-connected students achieve their greatest potential.
Activities and Initiatives
SVA travels to college campuses across the country, hosting Chapter Visits that provide attendees with practical skills to build a supportive culture in their SVA chapter and change the narrative about student veterans on campus.
Every year, SVA's annual NatCon brings together student veterans from across the nation, inspiring speakers, leading employers, higher education professionals, nonprofits, government agencies, and more. Regional Summits provide student veterans with the tools and knowledge needed to manage a successful student organization.
The SVA Leadership Fellow program is a premier student leadership experience that brings together chapter leaders from across the country for an immersive experience. This annual program gives student veterans a platform to make their voices heard on Capitol Hill and in their communities.
