Assumption University is a 185-acre enclosed campus in Worcester, Massachusetts, New England's second-largest city, located 43 miles (69 km) east of Boston. The campus offers a tranquil duck pond and ample space for recreation, relaxation, and reflection in a picturesque setting nestled in the Worcester hills. Worcester provides the best of both worlds, with a vibrant residential community and the conveniences of city life just minutes away.
The campus has a rich history, having been founded in 1904 by the Augustinians of the Assumption, a Catholic order dedicated to service and the pursuit of truth. The original campus was located in the Greendale section of Worcester but was destroyed by a tornado in 1953, which killed nearly 94 people. The college temporarily relocated to a new campus off Salisbury Street on the west side of the city, officially opening in 1956.
