Transferring to Foothill: admission and registration
Foothill College has an open-admission policy for all students interested in earning a degree or certificate, transferring to a 4-year university, or looking to reskill for personal or professional development. Admission
To apply for admission, new students must first declare a major (not "undecided") and select a goal of transfer, degree, or certificate to qualify for priority enrolment. International students applying for an F1 Visa or transferring F1 should see the International Student Program Application.
Registration
To register for classes, students must log in to MyPortal, select the Student Registration tile, and then select Registration Dashboard. Students should register for classes as soon as possible to increase their chances of getting into their desired classes. Students must pay their fees upon registration and will be dropped from classes if they do not pay in a timely manner. Students can check their registration date and time in MyPortal, as well as any holds on their account.
Students who have completed prerequisite coursework at another college must submit a prerequisite clearance request at least two weeks before their registration date. Some designated learning community courses may require faculty approval for enrolment and/or co-enrolment in another class.
Students can also request a P/NP grade through the completion of the course. Before the first day of the quarter, students may request the P/NP grade option in MyPortal. After the class begins, they must use the Conversion of Letter Grade to Pass/No Pass form and submit it to the Admissions Office. However, some transfer institutions will not accept pass/no pass grades, and the college cannot change a P/NP to a letter grade per state regulations.
Foothill College also offers priority registration for continuing and new students, with specific dates for fall registration.
