All deferred and unpaid balances, including late fees, must be paid by the following dates: August 1st for fall semester charges, January 2nd for spring semester charges, and May 1st for summer charges. These deadlines are a condition for financial clearance to enrol in classes in subsequent sessions.

Students can enrol in a payment plan to make scheduled payments for tuition, fees, and room and board. There is a $50 enrolment fee for the payment plan, and a minimum balance of $2,250 is required.

Financial aid
The University of San Francisco (USF) offers financial aid to its students. To apply for financial aid, students must fill out a FAFSA or CADAA form. The financial aid package can be viewed through the student's myUSF Self-Service portal, where they can review and either accept or decline the aid offered.
New students who are not U.S. citizens or U.S. Permanent Residents are not eligible for financial aid from the U.S. Federal government. International students are required to submit a Certification of Finance form, indicating they have sufficient funds for their studies in the U.S.
Students can also apply for a Federal Direct Unsubsidized Loan, which must be accepted via the myUSF student portal. The loan is disbursed in two equal installments, once each semester, with a loan origination fee of 1.057% The priority deadline to accept the Federal Direct Unsubsidized Loan was May 15, but new admits can still accept this aid after this date.
Additionally, students can apply for a PLUS Loan, which is credit-based and requires approval from the Department of Education. The University Financial Aid Office will forward the loan amount to the DOE for a credit check as part of the Loan Origination process.
Students can also authorize other users, such as parents or guardians, to view and make payments toward their accounts. Invoices and e-bills are available online, and students will receive notifications when new bills are available.
USF also offers a semester payment plan, with a $50 enrollment fee. Payments can be made from international bank accounts through Flywire. Students must owe a balance of at least $2,250; otherwise, they may be subject to registration holds and late fees.
It is important to complete all financial aid requirements, such as accepting awards, completing entrance interviews, signing promissory notes, and sending any required verification documents to the financial aid office. Students can check their financial aid status by going to myUSF → Banner Self Service (Student) → Financial Aid → Financial Aid Status.

Refunds
The University of San Francisco (USF) offers refunds in certain circumstances, such as when a student has a credit balance on their account due to overpayment or unused meal plan charges. It's important to note that students who withdraw or take a leave of absence from the university may also be eligible for refunds, but they must comply with the official USF Withdraw or Leave of Absence policy.
Deadlines for Payment
To avoid late payment fees, tuition and other out-of-pocket expenses not covered by financial aid must be paid by the published due dates, which are before the first day of classes for the fall and spring semesters. For the fall semester, the deadline is August 1st, and for the spring semester, it is January 2nd. For students who have not registered before the payment due date, full payment or enrolment in a payment plan is required at the time of registration.
Students with a credit balance on their account may receive a refund. Direct deposit refunds are typically received within 2-5 business days after the aid funds have been disbursed to the university, depending on the banking institution. Paper check refunds usually take 7-10 business days after disbursement. However, refunds due to overpayment from a personal check can take up to 15 business days to process. It is recommended to enrol in the direct deposit refund process for faster access to excess aid funds.
Students who withdraw or take a leave of absence from USF on or after the first day of the semester must follow the official USF policy to be eligible for a refund. The Registrar's Office will use the date the paperwork is received as the official date of withdrawal or leave of absence. Pro-rated charges will be deducted from the paid amount before issuing a refund. Students who have not yet paid will be subject to pro-rated charges based on the official date of withdrawal or leave.
Federal Law on Refunds
According to federal law, any funds exceeding allowable charges for the current semester must be refunded to the student within 14 days after disbursement. To receive a reversal of tuition charges, students must officially drop the course(s) by 5:00 p.m. on the census date. Exceptions to this policy may be granted by the student's academic dean through a petition process.
