Refunds
Students who withdraw during the first six weeks of fall or spring classes may be eligible for a partial refund or partial cancellation of an unpaid balance, depending on the costs deferred and the amount of the refund as determined by the schedule. The withdrawal process is completed when the student submits the withdrawal card to the Registrar's Office and signs a request for any applicable refund. Students who withdraw from a study abroad program before the beginning of their overseas program will be assessed a $300 OGE administrative fee and will be responsible for any non-recoverable program expenses incurred. Students who withdraw after the beginning of their overseas program will be refunded a percentage of the Georgetown tuition charge, based on the refund schedule, less non-recoverable costs as determined by the partner institution, and the Education Abroad Insurance fee.
Students who feel that individual circumstances warrant an exception from the published policy should appeal to the appropriate Dean's Office for consideration. If a student receives a refund to which they were not entitled, any resulting outstanding balance must be paid back to the student account immediately to prevent penalties.

Financial aid
Georgetown University aims to make it financially possible for every admitted applicant to attend, ensuring a diverse student body. The Office of Student Financial Aid is located on the lower level of White Gravenor Hall in the Student Services Center and is open Monday to Friday, 9 am-5 pm ET.
To be considered for financial aid, students must complete the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) and the CSS Profile by February 1. The FAFSA collects biographical and financial information, including family income, assets, household size, and the number of children in college. This determines eligibility for federal financial aid, including loans, grants, and work-study. The CSS Profile collects more detailed biographical and financial information from both natural parents, even if they are separated or divorced.
Georgetown University meets the full financial need of all eligible undergraduate students, and a student's need for financial assistance does not negatively impact their admissions chances. Financial aid is provided based on need, and the university does not offer academic or merit-based scholarships. Instead, eligible students receive a combination of grants, scholarships, employment, and loans from federal, state, private, and university sources. Federal grants are awarded to students with the highest financial need, as determined by the FAFSA. Georgetown scholarships are also awarded based on financial need, as assessed through the FAFSA, CSS Profile, and family tax returns. Direct loans from the federal government are offered in subsidised or unsubsidized forms, depending on financial circumstances.
Student employment is another option, providing valuable work experience while contributing to educational costs. Students with financial need, as determined by the FAFSA, may qualify for a work-study award, increasing their job opportunities. Outside scholarships and resources, such as private scholarships, tuition benefits, and veteran benefits, can also help reduce financial obligations.
