Finding your WSU student ID number

Your official student identification number at Wayne State University (WSU) is printed on the front of your OneCard, which also serves as your parking pass, library card, and copy/vending card. You will receive your OneCard once you have registered and submitted a photo for approval.

If you are a new student, you can use the nine-digit personal ID (PID) on your OneCard as your initial AccessID password. Your AccessID is also printed on the front of your OneCard and is the same as your WSU email address.

If you have forgotten your AccessID, you can find it by visiting the Wayne State University online directory. You can also use the directory to search for the AccessID of another student, faculty member, or staff member.

To access your OneCard account, log in to Academica and go to University Resources, then Access OneCard Account. From here, you can also add guest access and deactivate your card if it is lost or stolen.

Obtaining your physical OneCard

To obtain your physical OneCard, you must be a registered student at Wayne State University. Once registered, you can obtain your OneCard as part of your freshman, transfer, or graduate student orientation. During or after orientation, you will register for classes and can upload a photo for your OneCard.

Once your photo has been approved and your registration status confirmed, your physical OneCard will be mailed to your home address. Alternatively, you can make an appointment or join the virtual line to pick up your card in person at the Welcome Centre.

If you are an existing student who did not attend orientation, you can obtain your OneCard by visiting the OneCard Office during business hours (Monday to Friday, 8:30 am-5:00 pm). You will need to bring proof of registration and have your picture taken at the office.

For affiliates and contractors, you can review the information on the Types of Cards page to learn how to request your OneCard. Faculty and staff can obtain a OneCard once they are hired and have attended their University Orientation session. There is no charge for an employee's initial OneCard, but replacement fees apply.

Using your OneCard for purchases

The OneCard is a multipurpose identification card for students, faculty, staff, alumni, and recognised affiliates of Wayne State University. It provides access to campus services and can be used for purchases. Cardholders can add money to their account, turning their OneCard into a campus-wide debit card. The card can be used for parking, door access, printing services, on-campus food and bookstore purchases, as well as off-campus Grubhub purchases.

To add money to your OneCard, visit Academica and log in using your AccessID and password. Under "University Resources", choose "OneCard Account" from the list of links on the left, or type "OneCard Account" into the search bar. This will take you to the online account management site where you can add funds. Click on "Deposit to OneCard" and enter your deposit amount (with a minimum online deposit of $15), credit card and billing information. Note that the address you enter must match the one the credit card company has on file for you. Once you submit this information, you'll receive an email confirmation to your WSU email account. In most instances, funds deposited online will be available within 5-10 minutes.

If you do not have the login information for your student's account, you can still deposit money, but the student must grant you access. Students will need to log into Academica, go to "University Resources", and then "Access OneCard Account".

There are other ways to add money to your OneCard as well. You can add money at any OneCard Cash Deposit Machine by selecting "Start", "Purchase Card", and inserting $1. Funds added in this way are available immediately. You can also add funds at the OneCard Service Center with a check or money order.

If you wish to dispute a transaction or charge on your account, or seek a refund for parking, washer/dryer usage, printing/copying, vending, food, or other purchases made with the OneCard, you should submit the Refund Request Form and any supporting documentation to the OneCard and Parking Service Center, 257 Welcome Center. Requests for refunds are not guaranteed and will depend on the documentation submitted and an investigation by the service center staff. An investigation may take up to three to five days, depending on the time of year and the number of requests. Full account refunds are only available if a cardholder leaves or is no longer affiliated with Wayne State University. Refunds can be issued to a cardholder whose account has a remaining balance of greater than $15 (there is a $15 administrative fee to close an account) at the time the request is submitted.
