Covid-19 testing and isolation requirements for international students in Western Australia
International students enrolled at a university in Western Australia can now travel to the state. To enter, they must apply under the Returning Student pathway. This requires either flying directly into Perth or entering Western Australia indirectly through another Australian state.
All international students must be fully vaccinated with a TGA-approved vaccine to enter Australia. If eligible, students should get a COVID-19 booster shot before travelling.
Students must book their quarantine premises before applying for a G2G pass, as the address needs to be documented on the application. They are required to self-quarantine for seven days at suitable premises in Western Australia. This includes staying somewhere close enough to a testing facility. Students must take either a PCR test on day 6 or a RAT on day 7 of self-quarantine. If symptomatic, they must continue to isolate until symptoms resolve.
The WA Government advises that if you are unwell with COVID-19 symptoms, you need to get tested at a COVID clinic and follow the health advice provided by the WA Department of Health. Free Covid-19 testing for international students at IUP Health Service
International students often have queries about COVID-19 testing, particularly regarding travel, funding, and other resources during the pandemic. IUP Health Service offers free COVID-19 testing to all its students, including international students. This service is available at the Center for Health and Well-Being in the Suites on Maple East. Testing hours are 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., Monday through Friday during the semester.
Students can also pick up free COVID-19 home testing kits during regular business hours. These kits were also distributed at IUP Day on September 8, 2022, from 3:00 to 6:00 p.m. at the Kovalchick Convention and Athletic Complex and IUP Punxsutawney. The kits were given out on a first-come, first-served basis.
IUP also provides free Moderna vaccines through IUP Health Service. Additionally, international students can access the Highlands Healthcare Clinic, a free clinic in Johnstown, PA, which offers discounted services.
Students who have COVID-19 symptoms should contact IUP Health Service via phone or email to receive further instructions. They can also refer students to a doctor if their health needs exceed what IUP Health Service offers.

Ireland is not the only country that has eased COVID-19 restrictions for international travellers. Since 6 January 2022, people travelling to Scotland from abroad who are fully vaccinated or under the age of 18 are also exempt from pre-departure COVID-19 tests and no longer need to self-isolate upon arrival. However, travellers in this group must still take a lateral flow test on or before day 2 of arriving in the UK. As of October 20, 2020, Canadian designated learning institutions (DLIs) with government-approved COVID-19 readiness plans have been allowed to welcome back international students. International students travelling to the UK are required to meet certain travel and vaccination requirements.
