Health Services
Columbus State University's Student Health Center (SHC) offers a range of health services to students. The SHC is located in Tucker Hall on the west side of the Main Campus, between Richards Hall and Arnold Hall. The closest parking lots are 3, 5, and 7, and parking is available in student-permitted spaces.
The Student Health Center is open from Monday to Thursday, 8:30 a.m.–4:30 p.m., and on Fridays from 8:30 a.m.–2:00 p.m. It is closed during official university closures. The SHC offers affordable healthcare services to all currently enrolled students who have paid the Student Health Fee. Services are available by appointment, and students are encouraged to wear a mask if they are feeling unwell.
The SHC's staff includes registered nurses, a nurse practitioner specializing in women's health, and two family practice physicians who are available on a scheduled basis. Students are entitled to four visits with a provider per semester, and additional visits may incur a fee. Nurse visits are unlimited and free of charge. Students can make appointments by calling, emailing, or visiting the SHC, and walk-ins will be assisted with scheduling their appointment as soon as possible. The SHC also assists with referrals for specialty or hospital care as needed.
A small selection of prescription medications is available at the SHC and may be prescribed at a reduced price. Any other prescriptions can be filled at a local pharmacy. The SHC does not fill prescriptions written by off-campus providers.
